Today's Japan is already an "internationalized society" where a variety of people, including foreign residents, foreign visitors to Japan, and Japanese people living abroad, are involved in addition to Japanese people. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has undertaken various initiatives to create an "accepting environment" for foreign outpatients at medical institutions. Thanks to these efforts, approximately 80% of medical institutions have experience accepting foreign patients in outpatient care, and approximately 60% of medical institutions have experience accepting foreign patients in inpatient care. As the number of foreign residents and visitors to Japan increases, it is essential to increase the number of medical institutions that can accept foreign patients and improve their services. To solve this problem, it is necessary to train medical staff who can respond not only in English but also in simple Japanese, and who have the skills to understand different cultures and religions.

Unfortunately, even in today's globalized Japan, many prejudices and discrimination remain. I want students in this faculty to know that their words and actions can lead to the joy or sorrow of others. I also want them to know that there are many people who feel pain other than discrimination, and to develop the ability to think about "how can we empathize with others and sympathize with their pain?" By repeatedly experiencing the basics of nursing, exercises and practical training at our university, I hope that students will acquire the knowledge, skills and mental strength to withstand all the difficulties they will encounter in the nursing field. The mission of our faculty is to nurture such "resilient nurses" and to nurture nurses as global human resources who will be the key to diverse fields in the future.
