FAQCOMMON QUESTIONS

Learning and entrance exams Question to
I will answer your question.

Regarding the curriculum and entrance examination for the Faculty of Human Information Science,
We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions from prospective students.

"Faculty of Human Information Science"is normal
How is it different from the Faculty of Information Science?
You will thoroughly learn the core of information science, such as AI, programming, and data science. On top of that, at Otemae, you will deepen your understanding of "sensibility and human understanding." We aim to connect technology with people's hearts using insights from Psychology, and create comfort and inspiration. The Faculty of Human Information Science is where you learn to transform technology into "someone's happiness."
I'm a humanities major, but I enjoy programming and
Can you keep up with AI?
Don't worry. The Faculty of Human Information Science has a curriculum that combines humanities and sciences, designed with the assumption that everyone will be starting from scratch. We offer remedial education so that students can relearn necessary subjects like mathematics from the basics. In fact, the humanities-based sensitivity of "understanding people's feelings" is the most sought-after skill in information science going forward.
I'm not good at math.Without using mathematics
Are there any entrance exams I can take?
Yes, there are options. The school recommendation-based entrance examination (open application method) allows you to choose two subjects you are good at from English, Japanese, mathematics, and geography/history, so you can try it even if you don't choose mathematics. The comprehensive selection entrance examination, which does not require an academic ability test, is also an option.*Mathematics is a required subject for both the general entrance examination and the entrance examination utilizing the Common Test for University Admissions.
Other faculties at Otemae University
Can I apply to multiple schools?
Yes, you can. The Faculty of Human Information Science allows you to apply to other faculties such as Faculty of Business Administration and Faculty of Modern Social Studies, and the additional application fee is set at a discounted rate. If you are interested in information science, business, and society, it is recommended that you apply to multiple faculties. You can also study across faculties after enrollment, so it's okay to be undecided.
After passing the exam once,
Is it possible to aim for a scholarship?
Yes, you can. There is a "Special Scholarship Challenge System" which allows you to take the general entrance examination and apply for the "Faculty of Human Information Science Special Scholarship" even after completing the enrollment procedures through the comprehensive selection entrance examination or the school recommendation-based selection entrance examination (open application method). You can aim higher after securing admission, and the application fee will be refunded after enrollment.
Since this is a newly established faculty, there are no past exam questions available.
What measures should I take?
The subject-specific exam uses the same questions as other faculties, so past questions from existing faculties can be used directly for preparation. The scope of the exam is also clearly defined, for example, limited to Mathematics I and Mathematics A, specifically "Combinations and Probability" and "Properties of Geometric Figures." There is no need to prepare for an unnecessarily broad range of topics. Please check the application guidelines for details.
