We would like to introduce the "Nutrition Education Practical Training I" course conducted by second-year students Faculty of Health and Nutrition.

In "Nutrition Education Practice I," students learn the basics of nutrition education, such as setting goals, understanding the target audience, efficient teaching methods, and evaluation methods. Furthermore, through role-playing and presentations, students will acquire the practical skills required for nutrition education as a registered dietitian.

In this lesson, we assumed the implementation of a food education event using the Food Education SAT System, and provided guidance on dietary improvement. The Food Education SAT System is a nutrition education teaching material that instantly calculates nutritional value by holding a life-size food model with a built-in microchip over a sensor, allowing you to easily check the balance of your meals.

In the class, the students selected the meals they wanted to check. Many of them struggled with excessive intake of fat and salt, and insufficient protein, and were able to gain practical knowledge while experiencing the difficulties of real-life nutrition education. By using a realistic food model, students were able to intuitively understand nutrients that are usually invisible, the appropriate amount for them, and how to eat them.

Through this internship, participants are expected to improve the skills required in the field of nutrition education and develop the ability to build trusting relationships with students.

At Faculty of Health and Nutrition, we develop the skills to be a confident registered dietitian in the future through a comprehensive training program and collaboration with the local community. Faculty members support the growth of each student and help them build a foundation as a registered dietitian.
