From October 28 to November 1, 10 students and two faculty members from Chiang Mai University participated in a short-term program at our Faculty of Global Nursing. Chiang Mai University and our Faculty of Global Nursing signed an academic exchange agreement six years ago, and have been conducting exchange programs between students from both schools for the past three years.
This time, in addition to the student program, an information exchange meeting was held between faculty members of Chiang Mai University and our faculty members, with eight faculty members participating from our faculty. At the information exchange meeting, under the theme of "Blending Technology with Nursing Practice: A New Era in Nursing Education in Thailand," faculty members from both sides shared information on the efforts they are making to provide effective nursing education to students, especially regarding simulation education.
From our university, Lecturer Sekiya from the Basic Global Nursing Department explained how students practice basic nursing skills (measurement of vital signs, gathering information through communication, etc.) through role-playing in Basic Nursing Skills III. In addition, a professor from Chiang Mai University explained simulation education corresponding to scenarios based on the symptoms of mock patients.
It was shared that although there are differences in the size and facilities of each university, they have devised ways to ensure that effective exercises are carried out through simulation education.
Faculty from both sides commented, "It was very helpful to be able to share teaching methods, innovations, and challenges at other universities. We would like to make use of this in future nursing education," making it a meaningful exchange meeting.
