I went to see the NBA after school

Two students who were dispatched to Chemekita Community College, our exchange program partner, in April 2024 have completed the six-month program at the partner school and returned home safely. Below are the impressions of the two participants after completing their exchange program.

・When all the classes were over, I realized that my listening and writing skills had improved a lot through the Writing classes, as the native speakers and teachers spoke at a standard speed. For sightseeing, I went to Seattle to see local friends from Boston and Japan, and also traveled to California with friends from school. Even though it's the same country, it takes about five hours by plane to travel from west to east, and the people, scenery, and climate are completely different, which made me realize just how large the US is. I also heard that a Japanese festival was being held at a university in the same city of Salem, so I went with my roommate. I was happy and proud to see so many students of the same generation studying about Japan. It was a valuable experience. (Faculty of Architecture & Arts)

・Through my interactions with my two host families, I learned a lot about American culture and traditions. Although I sometimes experienced academic setbacks, I was able to feel my own growth every day, and it was a very fulfilling time. I also have fond memories of the big birthday celebrations I received. (Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies)

Please make use of this experience in your future university life and future endeavors. We look forward to your continued success.
