[Faculty of Health and Nutrition] Biochemistry Experiment I Class Introduction!
2024.10.14
- Faculty of Health and Nutrition

We would like to introduce the "Biochemistry Experiment I" class taught by second-year students Faculty of Health and Nutrition.
In class, we used acidic, neutral, and alkaline solutions to observe changes in pH and color. pH is an index that indicates the strength of the acidity or alkalinity of a liquid, and is deeply related to our lives and health.
In the experiment, we extracted a pigment from eggplant skin and added the liquid to solutions of various pH levels. We observed that the color changed to red in acidic solutions and blue in alkaline solutions, and we were able to use this color change to consider the possibility of using it as a pH indicator.
In classes, students will work together in groups to understand the purpose and procedures of experiments under the guidance of a teacher. Group learning is an important opportunity to exchange opinions and develop problem-solving skills. It also cultivates teamwork and communication skills, allowing for deeper mutual understanding.
In Faculty of Health and Nutrition, students who aim to become registered dietitians use various equipment to conduct easy-to-understand, practical experiments. In addition, teachers and Research Associate are on hand to support students during the experiments, allowing them to learn with peace of mind.
Through these experiments, students are able to experience the joy of science and the importance of cooperation while also deepening their knowledge as registered dietitians.
