On Saturday, September 28th, the Osaka City Higashinari Ward Office held the "Food Education & Health Festival" at the Higashinari Community Center. As Osaka City Healthy Partners, four volunteer third-year students from Faculty of Health and Nutrition and Assistant Professor Ueoka conducted food education activities.
Higashinari Ward will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025, the year of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, so the event was held in a lively atmosphere with the Expo in mind. Otemae University booth was set up right at the entrance to the venue, where a dietary balance check was conducted using the SAT system. Although there were only four student staff members participating, they cooperated with each other, calling out to each other and guiding the residents smoothly. People of all ages, including small children, took part in the SAT and reflected on their daily meals. Nearly 70 people took part in the experience.
Following the spring semester, food education activities are scheduled for the fall semester from September to November and in February of the new year. Food education activities are a good opportunity to acquire and further hone communication skills. We look forward to students' continued participation in these activities.
