On September 10th, just before the start of the fall semester, Faculty of Health and Nutrition held its 13th clinical training research seminar at the Osaka Otemae Campus.
The off-campus clinical training in Faculty of Health and Nutrition is an important part of the dietitian training course, and the clinical training study group to ensure the smooth implementation of this training is held every year except during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the training was held face-to-face with the participation of people from facilities that accept students (school lunches, public nutrition, and clinical nutrition). This was the first time in three years that the training was held completely face-to-face.
In the first part, we invited Dr. Masayoshi Fujiwara, Chairman of the Osaka Dietetic Association, as a guest and he gave a lecture titled "The future of clinical training in dietitian training - from the perspective of the chairman of the Osaka Dietetic Association". Dr. Fujiwara introduced the history and current position of dietitians and nutritionists, and the activities of the Japan Dietetic Association. Based on his own career as a hospital dietitian and his experience in educating students at a dietitian training school, we were able to hear a wide range of interesting stories from the perspectives of both the training facility and the university. At the end, he said that he hopes to guide students so that they can realize that the work of a dietitian and nutritionist is a rewarding job.
In the second part of the event, participants split into groups based on their field of study and actively exchanged opinions. In the third part of the event, the university's Chairperson of the Board also attended the social gathering, deepening mutual ties between participants from both inside and outside the university.
