On September 6th and 7th, the Agenda for the JBI Asian Regional Meeting was held in Prague, Czech Republic, and Professor Nishimura, Associate Professor Wada, and Assistant Professor Hirosawa from Faculty of Global Nursing participated, following the aforementioned JBIC Meeting (https://www.otemae.ac.jp/news/21512). More than 40 members from JBI chapters in Asian countries (China, Thailand, India, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Philippines, etc.) participated in this meeting.
First, a representative from India, the host country of next year's JBI, spoke about the issue of how to integrate traditional care such as Ayurveda, homeopathy, and yoga with Evidence Based Practice (EBP), and discussed how evidence can have an impact beyond the diversity of culture, language, and tradition.
In the next session, it was announced that Fudan University in China plans to study the form of EBP using AI and its risks and advantages in preparation for a symposium in Shanghai (November 2nd and 3rd, 2024) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the JBI branch.
In the third session, researchers introduced the process they will be implementing this year to obtain research grants for the next fiscal year. It was decided that an online platform would be created to help researchers in each branch learn about their own specialties and create an environment where they can easily conduct collaborative research.
In the final session, support systems for chapters with little experience in JBI activities were discussed, and the effectiveness of utilizing mentorship was introduced.
While we learned a lot from our experience in implementing evidence to date, this was an opportunity to reaffirm the need to further connect EBP to clinical practice.
