On Monday, September 2, 2024, Otemae University FD Committee and Otemae College FD Committee jointly held a public FD/SD seminar entitled "Statistical Methods for Education and Research: The Very Basics of Statistics and Data Interpretation - Using Data on Blood Type and Personality."
This FD/SD seminar was held as the first step to learn about statistical methods necessary for educational activities and research. In recent years, with the digitalization of education, statistical methods for education and research have also evolved, making it essential for teachers and researchers to acquire the skills they need, that is, to have opportunities for reskilling.
The aim of this seminar was to explain the very basics of statistics and data interpretation using actual analytical data, and to teach practical steps in statistical analysis, thereby helping faculty and staff acquire statistical methods for teaching and research.
The seminar began with opening remarks from Professor Watanabe Kimiaki, Chairman of the Faculty Development Committee Otemae University, followed by an explanation of the purpose of the seminar by Professor Kitajima Junko, Chairman of the Faculty Development Committee at Otemae Otemae College. This was followed by case reports by Professor Sekine Shinichi of Department of Oral Health Sciences Otemae College and Professor Nakajima Yuka Faculty of Modern Social Studies Otemae University.
On the day, 62 faculty and staff members from Otemae Educational Corporation and member schools of the Hyogo Kobe University Consortium participated.
