Otemae University Faculty of Architecture & Arts has been teaching drone filming techniques since 2018. Lecturer Tamada from the school participated in a project planned by Akane Wakabayashi, a filmmaker certified as a Hyogo Prefecture Heritage Manager, to "film the current state of historical buildings whose survival is in danger, and convey their value to local residents and others in general," and cooperated in filming the former Kakogawa Town Public Hall with a drone. Wakabayashi has previously produced video works of various historical buildings, and this project was planned as part of that effort.
In recent years, historical buildings have been demolished one after another without a full understanding of their value. In an effort to change this situation, Wakabayashi has been working to create and release footage that conveys the historical value of these buildings. Our university sympathized with this initiative and cooperated with this aerial filming.
Associate Professor Ise from Faculty of Business Administration assisted with the use of the equipment, and Lecturer Lecturer and Ikebuchi from Faculty of Architecture & Arts who have been in charge of drone education, assisted with the filming. Opportunities for using drones in various situations are increasing. Otemae University will continue to focus on drone education in order to respond to these changes in the times.
