Professor Junya Kaimori (Vice-President) Faculty of Health and Nutrition gave a presentation at the 67th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nephrology, held June 28th (Friday) to 30th (Sunday). He gave two presentations in the general topic of ESRD (Frailty and Sarcopenia).

1. "Step count declines rapidly in hemodialysis patients, even when baseline values are high: the PROMOTE Study"
This is the first report to show that hemodialysis patients have approximately one-quarter the activity level of the general population, and that short-term hospitalization leads to a significant decrease in activity.

2. "Relationship between physical activity and nutritional indicators in hemodialysis patients: PROMOTE Study"
We attempted to calculate a health life expectancy index for hemodialysis patients from changes in their activity levels over time, but were unable to extract a consistent index, suggesting that biochemical prognostic predictors for dialysis patients may not be an indicator of health life expectancy.
