The "Western Tokyo Rokugakusei Baseball Newcomer's Tournament" started on June 16, and the final game was held at the Itami Sports Center on June 29. Otemae University won the first place of the 2024 Spring League and the previous year's champion, Kyoto Sangyo University, to achieve the long-sought first victory in the 24th year since the team's establishment.
Captain Tsuji Uemune, a second-year student Faculty of Architecture & Arts spoke of the team's achievement, saying, "After our seniors retired in October of last year, only three of us second-year students and our advisor, Mr. Yoshida, had been practicing. However, this spring, many members joined the club, as if to save it from disbanding, and we were able to achieve this result. Unlike other universities, we are a young team of first and second-year students, so I think we still have room to grow. We won't be satisfied with this result, and will continue to work hard to achieve even better results. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to Student Affairs Division and many other people for all their support. I hope you will continue to support us in the future."
The semi-hardball baseball club is currently recruiting new members. Captain Tsuji says, "If you are even slightly interested, please come and try it out. Managers are also welcome." He is looking forward to the new members joining. Please send a DM to the official Instagram account (otemae_junko) or contact Student Affairs Division.
We look forward to seeing your continued success as part of the semi-hardball baseball team!
