"Hibi" (Hibi) is a work by painter Nishida Shinsuke, a 2019 graduate of the Faculty of Media and Arts (now Faculty of Architecture & Arts), and will be displayed in the cafeteria "e's kitchen" in Building E of the Sakura Shukugawa Campus. An unveiling ceremony was held on May 15th.

This work was commissioned by Nishida to be the cover of the school's newsletter "OTEMAE WINDS" to be published in 2022, and it was the first time that a graduate's work had been featured on the cover. As the issue was published in the midst of a pandemic, the work was commissioned to be based on the school's founding spirit, "STUDY FOR LIFE," with hope for the end of this anxious era and a new era.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Otemae Otemae Educational Corporation Chairperson of the Board Yo Fukui, Otemae University President Hirano Mitsutoshi, Faculty of Architecture & Arts Dean Imabuku Akiyo, and Professor Izawa Kozo, as well as many staff members. Nishida said in his greeting, "I am very happy that this work, which I have a deep attachment to, will be displayed at my alma mater, where many students gather. I hope that my juniors will see this work and feel something in it, which will give them strength."

"Nichibi," a work that has become a meaningful piece for the faculty and staff of our school, is displayed on the wall on the west side of the cafeteria in Building E of the Sakura Shukugawa Campus. Current students, faculty and staff, as well as people from outside the school, are welcome to come and see it when they visit our school.
