On Thursday, April 4, 2024, Faculty of Global Nursing held its 4th Progress Ceremony for 82 third-year students. This Progress Ceremony is held to encourage students to grow and progress, and to raise their awareness of nursing professionals during their third year, when they are transitioning from a basic classroom-based stage to specialized nursing with practical experience. From the moment they entered the ceremony until they left, the students were impressive with their dignified appearances, filled with confidence and determination for their upcoming practical training. Here, we introduce the "pledge" made by the third-year student representative and the "words of encouragement" from the fourth-year students to encourage their juniors.
"Pledge" by a representative of the third-year students
"In my future training, I think there will be times when I feel lost or anxious about the nursing I provide and stop. At those times, I want to remember to carefully reconsider each and every 'basis' and reflect on the basics of nursing. I have also learned in my classroom studies and training that even if you cannot understand someone's values or thoughts, an attitude of wanting to learn will always be conveyed to the other person. As students of Faculty of Global Nursing who value the idea of diversity, I believe that what is expected of us and how we should be is not just to say, "Let's accept diversity," but to understand the true nature of diversity and the difficulties of accepting it. I want each and every one of us to continue thinking about what compassionate nursing is and put it into practice every day."
"Words of encouragement" from a representative of the 4th year
"From now on, you will not only have fun, but also have difficulties. The training period has suddenly become long and tough. However, you are not alone. You are surrounded by your peers, teachers, and senior colleagues, so please rely on them when you are in trouble. Also, please take care of yourself as well as the patients. When you look back after overcoming the long training, I think you will realize that your view of nursing has been formed. Do your best until that day comes. I am rooting for you."
Although it was cloudy on the day of the Progress Ceremony, the students' bright faces made an impressive appearance as they took commemorative photos in the schoolyard.
