For two weeks from February 13th to 22nd, we hosted eight Global Nursing and one accompanying teacher from our overseas partner university, the University of Adelaide (Australia), at our Osaka Otemae Campus for a short-term training program.
The training program consisted of lectures and exercises in English by faculty members Faculty of Global Nursing, and students from the University of Adelaide learned about Japanese nursing and medical systems, foot baths, and pediatric nursing. In addition, with the cooperation of medical institutions in Osaka Prefecture, they were given the opportunity to tour hospital facilities.
They also visited the Sakura Shukugawa Campus, where they had a social event with students and a campus tour, during which the students enjoyed interacting with each other while making full use of their English skills.
On weekends, students from Faculty of Global Nursing and Graduate School of Global Nursing Science became host families and welcomed Adelaide students for overnight homestays and day home visits. Through interactions with the students, the students were able to experience life in Japan.
During the introduction to Japanese culture, the University of Adelaide students also had the opportunity to experience Japanese games such as kendama, otedama and cat's cradle, as well as try their hand at calligraphy.
During the hosting period, students from our university volunteered in the program, which not only provided an opportunity to enjoy interacting with Adelaide students but also to deepen their understanding of different cultures.
We will continue to promote exchanges with our academic partner universities.
