"Sfida," a group primarily made up of film students, participated in the "48Hour Film Project-Osaka" (48HFP), held from October 17th to 19th. 48HFP is a unique, demanding and stimulating filmmaking competition held around the world, in which participants must complete all aspects of filmmaking, from scriptwriting to filming and editing, to complete a short film within 48 hours. While some teams were making a film for the first time, the winning works from each region will ultimately be screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
This has been a topic of discussion among the student film staff in the past, but this was the first time that a team of 15 people, led by Shiori Okuto, a third-year student at Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies, participated. They successfully completed everything from the script to filming and editing within the allotted time.
Okuto said, "'Sfida' means challenge in Italian. The members are from a variety of faculties and years, and some of them met for the first time, but they are a crossover team that is typical of Otemae University, with each member determined to take on challenges in their own way. Our challenge is still on! We will use this experience as motivation to tackle everything with enthusiasm."
A premium screening will be held at Cleo Osaka South Hall on November 1st, where the winners of each award, including the Grand Prize, will be announced. We look forward to seeing Sfida's continued success in the future.
