2025-06-13[Institute of Global Nursing] Report on the ScR (Scoping Review) Seminar
The Faculty aims to cultivate individuals who are equipped with logical and practical knowledge and can act appropriately, and who can provide fair and equitable health care to all people with diverse values, traditions, and lifestyles. To this end, the mission of the Faculty is to cultivate individuals who can communicate globally, primarily in English, so that all people, regardless of language or cultural differences, can enjoy healthy lives in medical settings and in the local community.
The purpose of this institute, established by Global Nursing, is to embody the mission of Otemae University, which is to "collaborate with the local community through education and research, contribute to the development of the local community, and contribute to the international community."
More specific goals
To conduct specialized research to contribute to the health of the nation.
Collaborate with the local community and contribute to the local and international communities.
In other words, we are operating as a platform to put the idea of "Think globally, Act locally" into practice.

Background to establishment and expected role
The International Learning Collaborative (ILC) and The Otemae University Implementation Center (OUIC) are engaged in international nursing research activities to nurture the next generation.
The first Dean of our Faculty of Global Nursing university, suzui Emiko Professor, was studying in England (graduate school at the University of Thames Valley in the UK). She was the first midwife in the UK to receive a PhD. He studied with Lesley Page Professor.
From that mentor, Dr. Flinders University Vice-President (former Adelaide University Nursing Dean) and founder of the ILC. He was introduced to Alison kitson Professor and then Dr. Alison Professor introduced Dr. Alan Pearson Professor, who has a common understanding of the ILC's philosophy and social activities through international activities and research exchanges, and who sympathizes with his qualities and way of thinking as a researcher suzui Professor.
With these connections, suzui Professor has been active as an ILC member and JBI member, and has been energetically reporting the results of international joint research.
suzui Professor, which also focuses on fostering the next generation, aims to instill the ILC's philosophy of "the latest research directly leads to the benefit of patients" in the Japan, and to realize the idea of passing on the joy of collaboration with world-class researchers to future generations. At the same time as the appointment of the Faculty of Global Nursing President, the ILC and JBI were encompassed Institute of Global Nursing. The first director of the institute, Naoko Nishimura Professor, was entrusted with the task.
There are currently more than 70 centers in 40 countries around the world, and this center began operations in Japan in March 2019 as the fourth branch. We work to ensure that decisions on the best possible health care for patients are based on evidence.
We hold a seminar (Comprehensive Systematic Review Training Program: CSRT) once a year to train researchers and clinicians who can conduct systematic reviews that generate evidence. We also implement a six-month course (Evidence Implementation Training Program: EITP) to put evidence into practice in clinical practice, and work in collaboration with various medical institutions. We aim to play an important role in establishing evidence in clinical practice and guiding it into a practical form.
In order to further improve healthcare services, we advocate the Fundamentals of Care.
Since 2008, an international conference has been held once a year, and medical institutions and universities in Europe, including the UK and Denmark, are working together to utilize this framework in actual medical settings, and reports are being made at the annual conference on efforts to improve the quality of care.
Institute of Global Nursing is utilizing this latest knowledge and working with researchers overseas to improve basic nursing education.
Otemae University Institute of Global Nursing Research Collection aims to widely publish the results of education and research that contribute to the development of Global Nursing in order to fulfill Institute of Global Nursing 's mission of conducting specialized research to contribute to the health of the nation and collaborating with local communities to contribute to both the local and international communities.

Here are some comments from staff members.
Tomiko Toda
I studied systematic reviews at a university in the UK and a follow-up course in Adelaide, both online, meaning that JBI allows anyone, anywhere to learn, share their thoughts, insights and struggles, and broaden their world.
Would you like to join us on this new journey to enhance nursing expertise and transform nursing with evidence based on the latest global standards?

Through these experiences, we were reminded that FoC is an important fundamental concept in nursing, and at the same time, we learned that it has diverse aspects in different countries.
By reexamining nursing education in Japan from the perspective of FoC, we hope to explore new nursing education through the activities of the ILC, asking questions such as what we as nursing educators can do, what Global Nursing should learn, and what kind of health outcomes can be achieved for the target patients.
