I think there are many people who are wondering what to specialize in at university and what kind of job they want to have in the future. For such people, the crossover program at Otemae University, is very appealing. I also took advantage of this crossover program and took classes in a variety of fields, which helped me to clarify where my interests lie and what my strengths and weaknesses are. In particular, the ability to deeply understand the movements of people's minds, which I learned in psychology, was beneficial in my specializations in management and marketing, and was also useful in my job search.

By practicing crossover, I began to think about how I wanted to look at things more broadly. During my studies in my major, I had thought about the psychology of tourists, such as why so many foreign tourists visit Japan and why they feel like they want to come back even after waiting in line for a long time at a theme park, so I decided to take a tourism course. There, I learned about Japanese hospitality, the current state of the theme park business, and Japan's attractive culture, and learned that there are many factors that influence the psychology of tourists. It made me want to study psychology with a broad perspective, rather than just focusing on my field of expertise.

During my job search, I focused most on corporate research, and the corporate management classes I took at the crossover were very helpful.
Ms. Rina Nakatani, a fourth-year student majoring in International Relations Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies graduated from Hyogo Prefectural Kawanishi Hokuryo High School.

The reason I applied to Faculty of Modern Social Studies. In my corporate research during my job search and in my graduation thesis topic "Food waste in Japan and hunger in developing countries," I was able to make full use of not only what I learned in my major, but also what I learned in economics through crossover. I would like to use this wide range of learning as a strength in the job I have received from the food trading company.

I believe that the broad range of learning and knowledge gained there will definitely be useful in film and theater, where you play a variety of roles set in different historical periods.

Otemae University was a very attractive university for me because it allows me to study both acting, which I have wanted to do since high school, and psychology, which I have always been interested in, through a crossover approach. I ended up majoring in film and theater, but I also took many classes that interested me, including psychology, European and American culture and literature, marketing, and sweets product development. In particular, I think I was able to deepen my learning in my major in Western culture, and my understanding of diversity in psychology. Taking in a wide variety of opinions across departments was an opportunity for me to grow both theatrically and as a person.

I have always wanted to help people, and now I specifically want to support people who are victims of crime, disabilities, or illnesses, so I chose psychology as my major. I chose Information and Computers as my minor because I was simply interested in it, and because I thought that I would need to have detailed knowledge of digital tools and media when supporting people who have been hurt by slander online. I feel satisfied that I was able to study both psychology to achieve my goal and information science, which interested me, and I would like to combine these two knowledge sources to find my own way of contributing to society.

Before enrolling, I had a vague idea that I wanted to work in urban development, and chose Faculty of Modern Social Studies, thinking that studying tourism would help me understand the region. However, I was inspired by the "Doors of Geography" class I took in my first year, and I wanted to learn more! So I transferred to Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies in my second year. What geography and tourism have in common is the careful observation of the actual site, and it's interesting to be able to see the same site from two different perspectives. This experience also allowed me to discover unexpected interests, and I realized that even studies that seem distant at first glance are connected. It also made me want to broaden my knowledge and insights.

I was in the broadcasting club in high school, and I chose Otemae University because I wanted to study media. However, I didn't have a clear goal, so I took a variety of classes in my first year. I particularly enjoyed Film and Theater in Faculty of Architecture & Arts, and English Communication in Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies Studies. Film and Theater made me want to learn more by creating a work myself. English Communication is difficult because it's hard to express your thoughts in English, but it's a lot of fun when you can express yourself. I would like to use my acting and communication skills to work as an event host or something similar.
