Otemae University Graduate School's vision of international Global Nursing begins with understanding diversity, including differences in countries, races, and cultures. In the future, nursing will not be affected by whether its base of operations is overseas or domestic. We aim to produce nursing professionals who can communicate with anyone, anywhere. Internationalization is also progressing in Japan. Let's think together about the meaning of the word global.

"Research" may sound difficult, but it involves taking up questions you have in clinical practice as research topics, collecting data, taking seriously what the data tells you, and considering how to provide better nursing care. You will encounter new perspectives that you would not normally notice, and you will be able to see things objectively. In Japan, which shows the face of a global society, there are still many voices that are not being heard. In this graduate school, I hope that you will cultivate the internationality, research skills, and nursing practice skills that will enable you to make these voices visible and provide better care.

Nursing is a practical science. Research begins with finding the "seeds" to improve the nursing of tomorrow from current issues. Creative problem solving in a complex society requires more than just the "ability to solve" problems; it also requires the "ability to generate questions." Our graduate school is connected to the world through our overseas partner schools in Asian countries and Institute of Global Nursing, and we will support you in the process of finding and nurturing these seeds.

I am conducting comparative research into the language of people with schizophrenia and depression. However, because there are still many aspects of language that have not been fully elucidated, I am not focusing on language, but on vowels. I am using a mathematical analysis method for these vowels. Using this type of language analysis method, I am conducting research that contributes to the early detection and prevention of mental illness. I am looking forward to learning together with people who are interested in language analysis.

The time in our lives that we are given moves forward in one direction. The experiences we accumulate in this irreversible process are precious and lead to our growth as human beings until the very end of our lives. And regardless of age, what gives our experiences deeper meaning and enriches them is learning from "words" that we do not have within ourselves. I believe that the learning and experience at this graduate school will be an opportunity to find new perspectives and meanings in nursing for those who wish to deepen their nursing knowledge, and for those nurses who have accumulated experience as practitioners, educators, and administrators. Let's grow together.
