After graduating from high school, I worked various jobs, including as a bus guide and an esthetician. In my twenties, I dreamed of becoming a Japanese language teacher, but at the time I gave up on the idea, thinking, "I could never be a teacher." However, when I went to my beloved Thailand on my honeymoon in my thirties, I was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere there, and my dream of becoming a teacher was rekindled, making me want to do something in that place.

First, I spent a year studying in a Japanese language teacher training course at a vocational school. Then, to obtain the degree necessary to work at a Japanese language school, I enrolled as a regular student in Distance Education Course at Otemae University, which had a good reputation. For four years, I worked part-time three days a week teaching Japanese to technical trainees, while simultaneously managing household chores and my studies.

For someone like me, aiming to become a Japanese language teacher, the appeal of studying through Distance Education Course is that you can acquire a wide range of skills by combining it with subjects such as Psychology, in addition to learning how to create teaching materials and teaching techniques. For example, in clinical Psychology practical training, we use children's anime as material to examine the psychological portrayals hidden beneath the characters' dialogue. Because it is a profession where empathy for others is essential, being able to hone my observational skills to connect with students' feelings was very meaningful.

Furthermore, the teamwork skills I acquired in my business and career courses have proven invaluable when collaborating with multiple Japanese language teachers. The notebook containing lesson records from other students' teaching practice is a lifelong treasure that I still refer to. It serves as a guide when I'm unsure of what to do. This truly embodies Otemae's "STUDY FOR LIFE." I realize that everything I learned during my time at the school is still relevant and useful in the workplace.
