In 2026, Otemae Educational Corporation will celebrate its 80th anniversary, Otemae University its 60th anniversary, Otemae College its 75th anniversary, and the Graduate School its 30th anniversary—a truly momentous year. We express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported the school up to this point, and to all those who have provided us with warm and generous guidance and support in various forms, both inside and outside the school. Otemae Educational Corporation Gakuen was founded in 1946 on the site of Osaka Castle's Otemae, which had been devastated by World War II. Its first Chairperson of the Board, Kenzo Fujii, envisioned "emotionally rich education for women" to create a better society without war, and opened Otemae Bunka Gakuin (later a vocational school). Since then, it has steadily developed as a higher education institution, progressing from a women's junior college to a women's university and graduate school. Furthermore, in 2000, in order to meet the social needs of a comprehensive educational institution in the coming era, it became coeducational. In 2016, Otemae University added Faculty of Health and Nutrition to its three existing liberal arts faculties, supporting health consciousness through food. In 2019, in response to the needs of an increasingly globalized society, it established Japan's first Faculty of Global Nursing, and in 2020, the Junior College added Department of Oral Health Sciences, enabling students to practice oral hygiene instruction, which is essential for both the elderly and children.

In 2021, the Faculty of Media and Arts was renamed Faculty of Architecture & Arts to clarify its educational content, and in 2022, the Faculty of Integrated Culture was renamed the Faculty of Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies.
Furthermore, in 2023, Otemae University will establish Faculty of Business Administration and Department of Medical Office Professions at its junior college. In June 2024, it was selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Support Project for Strengthening the Functions of Universities and Colleges of Technology," and applications for establishment approval are currently being submitted for Otemae University 's seventh new faculty, the "Faculty of Information Science," which will fuse technology and sensibility, with a target opening date of April 2027.
Furthermore, at the Osaka Castle Campus, a challenge to reach even greater heights is about to begin, aiming to establish a doctoral program in Graduate School of Global Nursing Science in April 2028, fostering internationalism, research capabilities, and nursing practice skills.

Finally, speaking of people, Otemae Gakuen is celebrating milestones: the school is reaching its 80th anniversary, the university its 60th anniversary, and Otemae Educational Corporation its 3/4th century anniversary.
