On May 17, 2026, the "Japanese Language Education Symposium - Considering the Future of Japanese Language Teachers -" was held at Otemae University Nishinomiya Shukugawa Campus. Many participants, including students, faculty, and Japanese language teachers interested in Japanese language education, gathered on the day, and the venue was filled with enthusiasm from beginning to end. Many Otemae University alumni who are active throughout Japan also participated, making it a valuable opportunity to deepen exchanges.
The theme of this symposium was "The Future of Japanese Language Teachers." Amidst the rapidly changing environment surrounding Japanese language education, it provided a forum for considering, from multiple perspectives, the roles and possibilities expected of Japanese language teachers in the future.
In the keynote speech, we welcomed Professor Naofumi Noda, who spoke on the topic of "The National Qualification 'Registered Japanese Language Teacher' and the Future of Japanese Language Teachers," discussing the latest trends and future prospects in Japanese language education. The participants listened attentively, and the question-and-answer session after the lecture was very lively.
In addition, graduates shared their practical experiences, and participants exchanged opinions, sharing their experiences, challenges, and future prospects in the field of Japanese language education. For the students, it was a very enriching time where they could hear directly from graduates who are actively working in the field.
The symposium was a great success, with many people participating. Otemae University will continue to actively provide opportunities for learning and exchange related to Japanese language education, and contribute to the development of Japanese language education.
