By comparatively studying the cultures of each country,
Broaden your horizons and learn more.

I became interested in Korean language and culture after becoming addicted to K-pop in junior high school, and decided to study it professionally, so I entered Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies. Also, my biggest goal in university life was to study abroad, so I chose Otemae University, which has a wide range of international exchange programs such as short-term training and exchange programs. In this major, I not only learn about the cultures of other Asian countries, but also about what kind of country Japan is, by comparing them with Japanese culture and learning about the differences and similarities. I feel that my perspective on different cultures has broadened.

The world of classics is connected to the present in unexpected ways, such as the myths of the gods that appear in the Kojiki being the roots of "uta" (songs), and Princess Kaguya in The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter asking the old man who was urging her to get married, "Why do I have to get married?" Of course, there are differences, but discovering the similarities and differences in values like these can be an opportunity to reexamine yourself. In addition, classics are the subject of many familiar things such as anime, games, and movies. By enjoying the original text of the classics that inspired them, you will be able to enjoy both worlds more deeply.
