Fourth Year

Homecoming
Homecoming image

In March 2023, we produced 78 graduates. We keep in contact with our graduates after graduation, mainly through Career Support Office, and we have opportunities for them to participate as guests and speak at homecomings (visits to their alma mater) as well as open campus events. The turnover rate for nurses in their first year is high nationwide, and Osaka is particularly high, but our graduates have a low rate of about half that. They are active in society as "resilient nurses," which has been our goal since the faculty was established.

Global learning and on-site training
Valuable experience will enhance your nursing skills.

By studying international nursing, I can learn about the situation, ways of thinking, and values of not only Japan, but also other countries. In that respect, I think I can develop the ability to see things from multiple perspectives more than other Global Nursing. During my clinical training, I visited facilities that are closely connected to local people. I was able to gain valuable experience that I would not be able to have if I became a hospital nurse, such as a quarantine station, a prison, and an NPO facility. In the future, I would like to work in a general hospital in Japan, and especially to be involved with children. I also want to work as a nurse overseas through volunteer work, etc.

Aiming to study nursing theory and become an international nurse,
I am improving my perspective on nursing.

There are many Koreans living in my hometown. There are few hospitals that can speak Korean, let alone English, and I learned that they feel anxious about medical care, so I applied to this department because I wanted to learn about international nursing. In addition to regular Global Nursing, I am learning a wide range of things, such as how to provide nursing care not only to Japanese people but also to foreigners both in and outside of Japan, and how diversity such as sexual minorities and religions can coexist in nursing. First, I will gain clinical experience as a nurse in pediatrics, especially with the AYA generation, and eventually after graduating from this university, I will go on to a special course for school nurses, gain experience as a nurse, and ultimately aim to become a school nurse in junior high and high schools.

Foreign values and multiculturalism
Understanding is the appeal of international nursing.

My mother, who is also a nurse, told me, "There are not many nurses who can speak English, so that alone will be an advantage," so I decided to study at Faculty of Global Nursing at Otemae University. During my studies at university, I felt that I had grown through my overseas internship and home-care internship. My internship in Australia was my first time abroad, and by interacting with foreigners, I was able to think more positively and accept values that are different from those of Japanese people. In addition, during my home-care internship, I had the opportunity to think about the meaning of caring for someone at home and the final moments of a patient. The appeal of international nursing is that you can understand the individuality of not only Japanese people, but also foreign values and multiculturalism.
