    At present, many foreigners who use medical institutions such as hospitals and clinics experience inconvenience. There is an urgent need to secure the necessary personnel to provide reliable medical care to everyone.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Osaka to become a nurse. After completing the assistant nurse training course, she obtained her registered nurse qualification. After graduating from a vocational school, she worked at Higashiosaka Municipal General Hospital (now Higashiosaka Municipal Medical Center, a local independent administrative institution) for 23 years, and then worked at a private hospital. In 2012, she was appointed Director nursing at Tatsumi Hospital.

    Nursing is a profession where you can improve yourself by coming into contact with various ideas such as the values, outlook on life, ethics, and career views of patients and their families. I love this job so much and am proud of it that I feel I could not have grown this far without it. I feel that the importance of nurses is being recognized amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but the reality is that nurses still spend their time on non-specialized tasks such as clerical work. I believe that nurses themselves need to speak out to be able to take on work that makes more use of their expertise, be aware that they can be more involved in work that only nurses can do, and increase their social standing.

    Efforts to eliminate various barriers.
    Globalization means cultural and linguistic barriers. We are likely to encounter an increasing number of patients with different values and beliefs, and for whom what we take for granted as Japanese people (such as honesty and patience) is not acceptable. As medical professionals, we need to remove these barriers and respond flexibly. It is important to not only educate ourselves on the knowledge and skills we need as nurses, but also to broaden our horizons while valuing our relationships with others in our private lives.
  • Flexibility and autonomy

    I think that going forward, there will be a demand for the training of nurses who can deal without hesitation with patients who have diverse values and ethics. For example, not being bound by fixed ideas such as "should." Since values vary from person to person, being able to provide guidance and care that is tailored to the patient. Being able to understand ways of thinking that correspond to values and outlooks on life, and being able to support decision-making such as participation in treatment and care plans. And being able to speak everyday foreign languages such as English and Chinese. I look forward to nurses who can provide medical care in tandem with doctors.
