Life Well-Being
Through inspiring education
Realizing "Otemae University"
The founding spirit of Otemae University is "STUDY FOR LIFE." In addition, the school has established a logo mark, "OTEMAE FLOWER." This is based on the motif of a cattleya flower, and each petal contains the meanings of 1) curiosity, 2) intelligence, 3) passion, 4) health, and 5) admiration for truth, goodness, and beauty. LIFE, which has these five meanings, is "a life in which well-being is realized throughout one's life."
Our university's vision for 2030 is to be "a mid-sized comprehensive university that realizes the well-being of each and every student through inspiring education." By "mid-sized comprehensive university," we mean to realize both the attentive instruction in a homely environment that is the attraction of a small, single-subject university, and the diverse learning and interaction in a dynamic environment that is the attraction of a large, comprehensive university. The "inspiring education" that we are working on is what embodies this.
The content of "heartwarming education" is a curriculum that harmonizes "Knowing, Doing, and Being." The learning flow emphasizes the cycle of "experience → reflection → verbalization → dialogue → settling in the mind." The educational methods are: 1) "Crossover," which allows students to select and take classes across departmental boundaries; 2) "Cross Boundary," an experiential learning experience that travels between the campus (classroom) and the field (town); and 3) "1-on-1," where faculty members talk to each student and support their growth.
Faculty and staff are not the only people who can support your growth. It is also important to meet classmates and seniors who will share campus life with you. The campus is a place for students to connect with others while expressing their true selves. Connections can only deepen if they are meaningful to the other person. Be proactive in revealing yourself during classes and extracurricular activities, and at the same time, be open-minded and receptive to feedback from others. Also, expand your circle of friendships through "small actions" such as offering small help.
Sakura Shukugawa Campus and Osaka Otemae Campus are adjacent to Shukugawa Park and Osaka Castle Park, respectively, which are beautiful in every season. We look forward to learning with you on campus.
