4. Future Outlook
Otemae University will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026. It plans to establish a Faculty of Information Science (tentative name) in 2027.
Towards 2030, Otemae University aims to become a medium-sized comprehensive university that realizes the well-being of each individual through inspiring education.
As "education that touches the heart," we aim to build a well-balanced curriculum that combines Knowing (possessing rich general knowledge and specialized knowledge and the ability to apply it), Doing (possessing excellent international awareness and the ability to solve problems in collaboration with others), and Being (possessing rich humanity, a positive self-concept, and a strong will to fulfill social responsibility). We also aim to establish the "Otemae Method" as a methodology that includes crossover (bridging learning across the boundaries of faculties and majors), diversity and inclusion (diverse students interacting, dialogue, and engaging with each other), 1-on-1 reflection (promoting introspection and verbalization through individual interviews), and cross-boundary (crossing from classrooms and campuses to the field).
As a "medium-sized comprehensive university," we aim to realize both the appeal of a large comprehensive university (a dynamic environment and diverse exchange of knowledge) and the appeal of a small specialized university (a close-knit environment where education focuses on each individual student). At the same time, we will act as a regional hub of knowledge, flexibly rooted in the community and realizing learning that collaborates with the local area.
