comment

I am researching haiku in the Edo period, particularly the Sho-style haiku advocated by Basho, focusing on the trends of his disciples, particularly Kikaku. In recent years, I have also become interested in the reception of Sho-style haiku during the revival period when Buson was active, as well as in letters written by haiku poets, and am working to decipher these documents.

Main publications and papers

"The Method of Kikaku's 'Niiyama-ke'" (Kinsei Bungei, No. 83, January 2006)
"Suginami in his later years - introduction and consideration of Suginami's letter to Oshima Minori, housed at the Kakiei Bunko" (Renga Haikai Kenkyu, no. 131, September 2016)
"Buson and Laitun/Tallo: Buson's Letters to Laitun from the Akiko Okada Collection" (Kakei Bunko Special Exhibition Catalog "Buson's Letters II," July 2020)

Awards

16th Kakiei Award (June 2007, Kakiei Bunko Public Interest Foundation)
