In the "Comprehensive Seminar III" class, third-year students Faculty of Health and Nutrition are preparing for their final off-campus clinical training (clinical nutrition) in their registered dietitian course, which begins in January next year.
As part of this, on Friday, September 27th, during the fourth period, Dr. Takeshi Saijo, Manager the Nutrition Management Department at Osaka Rosai Hospital, an independent administrative institution under the Japan Occupational Health and Safety Organization in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, where the students also do their internship, gave a lecture entitled "The Past, Present and Future of Hospital Registered Dietitians." The content of the lecture divided the changes in the work content of hospital registered dietitians into stages from RD1.0 to 4.0, and explained that, due to changes and expansions in medical fees, there are more opportunities for registered dietitians to be assigned to hospital wards to perform nutrition management work, and as a result, self-improvement is necessary to cultivate the ability to perform nutrition management work, and the ability to stand on your own as a medical professional is required. The lecture was very stimulating for the students, as it gave them hope for the future development of registered dietitians.
This was a valuable opportunity for students to become aware of their own career paths and qualifications as they prepare for their off-campus training (clinical nutrition) and eventually job hunting.
