On Monday, August 5th, third-year students Faculty of Health and Nutrition began a five-day off-campus training program in the field of public nutrition at health and welfare centers in each ward in Osaka City. In the morning of the first day, they received a lecture in the classroom from a registered dietitian at the Osaka City Public Health Center on "Duties related to health administrative dietitians in Osaka City."

To become a registered dietitian, students must complete three off-campus training units over the course of four years. They must complete a clinical training in the school lunch field during the spring break of their second year, then participate in a training in the public nutrition field during the summer of their third year, and a training in the clinical field during the spring break of their third year.

This year's training took place in particularly hot weather, so daily health management is required, but this field trip is a valuable opportunity to learn and gain experiences that cannot be had in the classroom. Each team will consist of five to six students, who will complete assignments given to them by the Health and Welfare Center and give talks in front of local residents, and we hope that the results of their classes and preparations will be apparent. We look forward to seeing you all again in the fall semester, having successfully completed this field trip and having grown even more.
