On June 13th, Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies held a presentation of the results of the internship by students who participated in the "Japanese Language Education Internship in Thailand" held at Mahidol High School in Thailand in February this year. This internship is conducted as one of the international activities, with students from our university teaching Japanese language and culture at Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, a boarding school that attracts students from all over Thailand, for about two weeks. After the first internship in February 2020, it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this year was the second time in four years that it was held. The program consists of two courses: a course to teach Japanese culture in English, and a course to teach Japanese in Japanese by students who have completed the Japanese language teacher training course.
Approximately 20 current students and five teachers interested in Japanese language education and international exchange participated in the training results presentation, with six of the seven training participants giving presentations. The presenters spoke about the content of the training, life in Thailand, their daily schedules, things they noticed, things they regret, and how they grew, all under the theme of "How have I grown?" Each presenter spoke about the contents of the training, their life in Thailand, their daily schedules, things they noticed, things they regret, and how they grew. It seems that each of them initially experienced setbacks by experiencing cultural differences, but they overcame them by reflecting and reflecting on their experiences, changing their way of thinking, and making repeated efforts, which ultimately led to their own growth.
The same internship is scheduled to be held again in February 2025, and an information session will be held in July. Students who are interested are welcome to attend.
