Mitsutoshi Hirano President has conferred the title of Professor Emeritus on Teruyuki Graduate School of Comparative Culture Torigoe, Director of the Graduate School of Otemae University who will retire at the end of March 2023. This award is presented to Mr. Torigoe Dean in recognition of his many years of contributions to the educational activities of the University and his outstanding achievements in academics and research.

Dean Torigoe specializes in folklore and environmental conservation. He has served as Professor and Vice-President of Otemae University School of Interdisciplinary Studies (now Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies), President Otemae University, and dean of the Graduate Graduate School of Comparative Culture at Otemae University, and has been particularly dedicated to mentoring international students. In addition to mentoring students, he has also served as president of the Environmental Sociology Association, the Japanese Association of Village Studies, the Japanese Sociological Association, and the Japanese Society of Life and Cultural History. His appointment Professor Emeritus is in recognition of his many years of achievements both within and outside the university.
