[Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies] Professor Matsui Hiroshi awarded the title of Professor Emeritus

Professor Matsui Hiroshi of Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies, who will retire at the end of March 2023, was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus by President Hirano Mitsutoshi. This award is in recognition of Professor Matsui's many years of contributions to the university's educational activities and his outstanding achievements in academics and research.

Professor Matsui has served as vice president of Otemae Confectionery College, Professor Otemae College, and Professor Otemae University Faculty of Comprehensive Culture (currently Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies). At Otemae University, he was instrumental in establishing the "Sweets Studies Major" at a four-year university in 2011, the first of its kind in Japan. In addition to mentoring students, he has also worked to establish an academic system for sweets and engaged in educational activities not only at this university but in many other fields, including presiding over the revision of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's Confectionery Hygiene Examination Act, advising the National Association of Confectionery Hygiene Examination Institutions, auditor for the Osaka Prefecture Confectionery Association, and Vice-Chairperson of the Kobe Sweets Society. His appointment as Professor Emeritus is in recognition of his many years of achievements.
