On February 28, 2025, the International Learning Collaborative (ILC)* run by Otemae University Institute of Global Nursing held a seminar for graduate students as part of its team activities.
This seminar covered topics such as the ILC and the FoC (Fundamental of Care) framework, domestic and international collaborative research, etc. It was an opportunity not only to learn about the ILC's international activities and the FoC framework, but also to deepen understanding of the university's plans to implement FoC in nursing education and domestic and international research activities, and to utilize this knowledge in future practice and research.
The graduate students who participated commented that it was a worthwhile experience, saying, "It was an opportunity to think anew about the essence of nursing, and I learned a lot. I would like to continue to practice this in the clinical field while also working on research," and "I would like to learn more about introducing FoC into undergraduate education."

*The International Learning Collaborative (ILC) is an international collaborative research institute based in Adelaide, Australia, where researchers and clinicians work together to ensure that the latest research is applied to care that directly benefits patients. In order to further improve healthcare services, the ILC advocates for the Fundamentals of Care. The ILC is the only international collaborative research institute in Japan, in which our university's Institute of Global Nursing is also a participant.
