Every year in June and December, Nishinomiya City conducts the "Our Town Clean-up Campaign" in collaboration with the Nishinomiya City Environmental Sanitation Council and the Nishinomiya City Waste Reduction Promotion Council to clean up litter such as cigarette butts and empty cans that spoil the city's appearance.
At our university, volunteers from the Otemae Volunteer Club and general volunteer students have been participating since December 2023.
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, for their fourth time participating, 19 student volunteers from the Otemae Volunteer Club gathered at Oasis Road at 9am and cleaned up litter together with local residents.
Below are some comments from participating students.
Through the cleaning activities, I was able to have a valuable experience interacting with local people. I was also glad to have a sense of fulfillment from cleaning up the route to school. I would like to participate again the next time! (MH, 3rd year, Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies)
I participated in the cleaning volunteer work.
The local people brought garbage bags and tied up the overflowing garbage bags, and it was a warm and happy time for us, and the neighborhood became cleaner. (Department of Life Design 2nd year SA)
It gave me an opportunity to think about the atmosphere of volunteer activities and what I can do for the community. (M.M., 1st year, Faculty of Modern Social Studies)
Please look forward to the continued efforts of the Otemae Volunteer Club!
