On the morning of June 5th (Thursday), a group of about 20 students and faculty members majoring in Architecture interior design from Germany's HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts toured Art Center. The group will be staying in Kyoto and Osaka for about two weeks, visiting historical buildings, modern Architecture, and Expo pavilions. On this day, they were touring Architecture designed by Tadao Ando in the Kansai region, and first thing in the morning they visited our university's Art Center which was also designed by Ando.
On the day, Professor Shimoda from Faculty of Architecture & Arts guided the group around the building, while Erwinsyah Damanik, Kimoto Nene, and Kajii Nozomi, students from Faculty of Architecture & Arts, tried their hand at explaining things in English and interpreting for them. The first 20 minutes were spent showing the highlights of the building, and the last 30 minutes were free for each group to do as they pleased. Erwinsyah, Kimoto, and Kajii accompanied the group, and they had lively conversations at various points. They also toured Taketachian, which is located on the same premises and was designated a registered tangible cultural property in March of this year, and enjoyed the contrast between the historical building and the modern Architecture designed by a famous Architecture. At the end, everyone took a commemorative photo. The hour flew by, but it was a fulfilling time for the Hawk University group and the three students who volunteered to interpret and guide them.
