~Lecture and talk session event by a currently active registered dietitian~
On June 24, the NST (Nutrition Support Team) Circle, an extracurricular activity group formed by students from Faculty of Health and Nutrition, Faculty of Global Nursing, junior colleges, and Department of Oral Health Sciences of Waseda University, held its first planned event as a circle, "The World of NST We Don't Know - Learning from a Registered Dietitian!"
On the day, we invited Shion Enokita, a registered dietitian who is a graduate of our university and currently works as a member of the NST at a hospital, to give a lecture and hold a talk session. Many students from Faculty of Health and Nutrition and Faculty of Global Nursing at the Osaka Otemae Campus, as well as Department of Oral Health Sciences at the Sakura Shukugawa Campus, participated in the event, which became a place of lively interaction.
In addition to an overview of NST, the lecture included specific and practical information such as a daily work schedule, the roles of each profession such as doctors, nurses, and dietitians, how to work as a team in actual cases, the rewards of working as an NST, and things to be aware of and learn while studying. In addition, during the talk session, the students' questions were answered one by one in detail, making it a very valuable learning experience for the participants.
Through this event, each participant was reminded of the importance of "multi-professional collaboration" and was given the opportunity to raise their awareness as future professionals. The NST Circle plans to continue its activities by providing a place for learning and interaction that transcends the boundaries of faculties and departments.
