On June 10th, the School of Faculty of Intercultural Japanese Studies held a training outcome report session for students who participated in the "Thailand Japanese Language Education Internship" which was conducted in February at Mahidol Wittayanusorn School in Thailand. Approximately 30 current students and two faculty members who are interested in Japanese language education and international exchange attended, and eight training participants gave presentations.
This internship was held for about two weeks at Mahidol High School, a leading science preparatory school that attracts students from all over Thailand, where students from our university teach Japanese language and culture. This was the third time this internship has been held. The program consisted of 1) a class teaching Japanese culture in English, and 2) a class teaching Japanese in Japanese, for a total of 25 hours of classes. Students enrolled in the LEO program and students enrolled in the Japanese language teacher training course participated.
During their two-week stay, the students who participated in the training not only attended classes, but also experienced Thai culture and took short trips around Thailand on their days off. This program has been highly satisfactory for participants at both our university and Mahidol High School.
We plan to hold this internship again this year, so we encourage students who are interested to participate.
