On Tuesday, July 15th, the Department of Faculty of Modern Social Studies 's class "The Door between Administration and Society" (Associate Professor Sakakura) welcomed guests from Hyogo Prefecture's SDGs Promotion Division and Finance Division, and Mizuho Securities' Sustainability Strategy Office, to give lectures on the economy, society, and sustainability.
Mizuho Securities provided an explanation of the relationship between the SDGs and ESG, introduced the "wedding cake model," and organized their thinking on achieving the SDGs.
Hyogo Prefecture presented a short video of some examples of the prefecture's initiatives, and then introduced the green bonds handled by the Finance Department, teaching students that working in a local government role can also be an attractive option for students aiming to work in the SDGs.
What both themes had in common was the importance of seeing the SDGs as something that applies to you personally, and the students were captivated by the presenters' attitude and listened intently to their talks.
I believe this lecture gave the students an opportunity to think about their own relationship with the SDGs, which had previously been vague.
