The campus is bustling again, and fall semester classes have begun in earnest at Faculty of Health and Nutrition.
This semester, many practical and engaging classes are being offered, and students are eager to deepen their learning. This time, we will introduce the "Food Science Experiment" class that first-year students are working on.

In this class, students will learn about the properties and characteristics of ingredients contained in food through experiments using familiar foods. By actually verifying the knowledge gained in lectures with their own hands, students will deepen their understanding and acquire food analysis skills. These lessons will form an important foundation for working as a registered dietitian.

Experimental classes are 180 minutes long, allowing students to work at their own pace. During class, teachers and Research Associate patrol the classroom, creating an environment where students can ask questions immediately if they have any. After the experiment, the teacher summarizes the results, and students can organize the data together with their classmates to further deepen their understanding.

There's no need to worry if you think experiments are difficult. First-year students receive thorough instruction on how to use lab equipment, and at the beginning of class, they are given an explanation of the experiment's procedures and important points to note. Because the class involves working together in groups, even first-timers can feel at ease. The class is packed with the joy of learning about how food works and moments of awe that come through experiments.

Faculty of Health and Nutrition will be holding an open campus on Sunday, September 21st at the Osaka Otemae Campus. On the day, we have prepared a variety of programs, including faculty information, campus tours, individual consultations, and opportunities to interact with student staff. If you've ever wondered, "What kind of work does a registered dietitian do?" or "What do I study at university?", please feel free to stop by.

We are also looking forward to speaking with you all.
