For five days from November 10th to 14th, we hosted a short-term training program at our Osaka Otemae Campus for nine Global Nursing and one supervising teacher from Chiang Mai University (Thailand), an overseas academic partner institution.
In the nursing training program, lectures and exercises were given in English by faculty members Faculty of Global Nursing. Students from Chiang Mai University participated in hair washing and foot bathing exercises as part of basic Japanese nursing, and participated in a simulated elderly care experience as part of geriatric nursing. In addition, in the field of community and home nursing, students learned about the long-term care insurance system and visiting nursing. In off-campus training, students visited the Osaka City Abeno Disaster Prevention Center "Abeno Tascul" and the ATC Ageless Center, deepening their knowledge of disaster relief and health, welfare, and nursing care for all generations.
On the final day, students from Chiang Mai University gave presentations on the results of their training and performed Thai dance during classes for fourth-year students. There was also an opportunity for lively question-and-answer sessions with students and faculty from Otemae University, making it a very fulfilling training experience despite its short duration.
Furthermore, on November 15th, the day after the program ended, faculty and students from Graduate School of Global Nursing Science and Faculty of Global Nursing served as host families for a home visit for nine students from Chiang Mai University and their accompanying faculty. Under the clear, refreshing autumn weather, this exchange became a final memorable experience in Japan. Our students volunteered to help run the training program, and students from the Global Circle were in charge of planning and implementing the cultural exchange event, providing a valuable opportunity to understand diverse cultures through active exchanges with Chiang Mai University.
Our university will continue to promote exchanges with our overseas partner universities.
