On October 29th, Miki Nakai, a graduate of Graduate School of Global Nursing Science, Professor Fumie Shirai, and Associate Professor Tomoko Yano gave a poster presentation at the Japanese Association of Public Health.

The presentation theme was "Examining the relationship between health literacy and awareness of sexually transmitted disease prevention behaviors and actual preventive behaviors among medical university students," which was the research topic of her master's thesis. This study did not find a relationship between health literacy and sexually transmitted disease prevention behaviors among medical university students, but it did reveal that school classes are the most common source of information about sexually transmitted diseases. These results suggest that it is important to improve health literacy, raise awareness of correct knowledge, and promote preventive behaviors.

This research will be published in the Journal of Otemae Otemae University Institute of Global Nursing.
