In the practical exercise Marketing I., which is an industry-academia collaboration PBL (problem-solving learning) class, we held a final proposal report meeting for the issues received from Mr. Hiroshi Tabe, head of the marketing department of the sales headquarters of Sakura Crayon Co., Ltd., a comprehensive manufacturer of art materials and stationery.
The students visited Sakura Crayons on September 30, 2025, and learned a lot about Sakura Crayons' development as a company, the market environment, products that have long been supported in a wide range of industries, the secret story of new product development, and Tabe Director 's own attitude and way of thinking as a marketer.
In the industry-academia collaboration PBL (problem-solving learning) class, we were divided into groups of 3~4 people, and during and outside class, we discussed and cooperated many times on campus and online, considering specific proposals for issues and creating promotional videos using video software.
At the final debriefing session, we saw a grand presentation such as a questionnaire survey that we planned and conducted by ourselves, interviews with academics, and survey data, as well as product proposals that combine digital and analog. After the presentation, President Tabebe gave comments to each group, and the students listened with serious expressions.
After the class, I said, "I did a great job," "I was able to grow a lot compared to the beginning," "I learned a lot from the comments, which made me understand to a deep level," "I was able to learn while struggling a little with the difficulties in interpersonal relationships in terms of group work," and "I read books on assertions and sociology to facilitate the group work in this marketing class. My ability to create relationships has increased."
In addition, there were comments that they were able to realize their growth through learning that cannot be obtained by solving problems, such as the process of group unity, the sense of accomplishment after the presentation, and leadership, as well as the process of meeting with each other for the goal of proposing a problem solution.
