Explanation by Mr. Uemoto of Amidaike Daikoku

The "Regional Tourism Seminar II" course (taught by Professor Ebi Ryohei) in the Department of Faculty of Modern Social Studies 's Tourism and Regional Management major held an off-campus training course on January 16th and 28th as part of a "Theme-Based Corporate Understanding Program" sponsored by Hyogo Prefecture, the University Consortium Hyogo Kobe, and Otemae University.
On the morning of January 16th, Nishinomiya City visited DCS Corporation, a company that handles coffee-related equipment and is headquartered there, where President and CEO Mr. Sano gave a lecture titled "Community-based Business - Our Case." He spoke about his company's progress in tandem with the Nishinomiya community, from his decision to start his own business after experiencing the loss of his daily life in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake of 1995, to his latest efforts amidst industry changes brought about by rapid digitalization.
In the afternoon, the participants visited Juchheim Co., Ltd., headquartered on Port Island in Kobe. After receiving an explanation from the Human Resources Department about the company's history and current initiatives, the participants split into groups to experience baking Baumkuchen. They also sampled Juchheim's Baumkuchen, comparing it with commercially available Baumkuchen, and were particularly able to experience the high quality of the "Slush Zero" Baumkuchen, which is free of food additives and is promoted by the company.
On January 28th, we visited Amidaike Daikoku Co., Ltd., which has its main store in Osaka and its headquarters in Nishinomiya. The company is famous for its famous Osaka sweets such as "Awa Okoshi" and "Osaka Hana Lang." After hearing from Mr. Uemoto of the Human Resources and Public Relations Department about the company's history since its founding in 1805 and about the Okoshi, we were given a tour of the factory and received a detailed explanation of the production lines for the various sweets the company produces. We learned about the importance of quality control, including the strict quality checks carried out by employees even though the production line is automated.
The two-day company visits, which allowed participants to experience the food culture of the Kobe/Hanshin area, such as sweets and coffee, were extremely meaningful learning experiences.
