On March 13th (Friday), from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Institute of Global Nursing hosted a meeting for nursing managers in Japan and Thailand entitled "Meeting on Improving the Quality of Nursing Care." This meeting was planned with the aim of utilizing evidence and research findings in clinical practice to improve the quality of nursing care, and was conducted in a hybrid format combining in-person and online sessions.
On the day of the event, a total of 31 people participated (20 in person, 11 online), including clinical nurses, nursing managers, nursing instructors, and graduate students, and lively exchanges took place from diverse perspectives.
From Japan, Professor Yuri Kasamatsu of Faculty of Global Nursing Otemae University introduced FoC (Fundamentals of Care), a new nursing theory originating in Australia. This deepened our understanding of how to redefine patient-centered care and how to utilize and practice the theory to improve the quality of nursing care.
Following this, Dr. Jittanom Sangkhanan from the Department of Nursing Research, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University Hospital, Thailand, spoke about mechanisms for incorporating evidence to improve the quality of nursing care and systems for promoting nursing research. Ms. Sukonta Kunapun, Deputy Director of Nursing at the same hospital, then spoke about nursing department management for integrating research findings into clinical practice. Specific initiatives for improving the quality of nursing were shared. The Q&A and exchange of opinions facilitated the sharing of common challenges and innovations across national and institutional differences, providing a valuable opportunity to consider the ideal form of nursing research and management from an international perspective.
Going forward, Faculty of Global Nursing will continue its efforts to serve as a one-stop research center for nursing managers in Japan and Asia, contributing to the improvement of nursing quality through international collaborative research.
