  • Faculty of Information Science: Scheduled to open in April 2027 (application for establishment approval is pending).

The Faculty of Information Science, which will be newly established in the 2027 academic year, will introduce an "Innovation Mentor" system. In this system, experts such as engineers and creators who are active on the front lines of various fields will serve as mentors and support the growth of students through interaction.

The pioneering project has begun in the "Special Lecture on Contemporary Society: Psychology of Sensibility I," taught by Associate Professor Tomomi Takezawa, who is scheduled to join the Faculty of Information Science. In this class, students will learn methods for objectively and scientifically measuring and visualizing sensibilities such as "beauty" and "healing" that we experience in our daily lives. This year, with the cooperation of Hibiya Kadan Co., Ltd., which develops flower gifts, bridal floral arrangements, and spatial design both domestically and internationally, we will conduct joint research on the theme of "the sensibility value of spaces with flowers."

In the second lesson, we welcomed Ms. Yamamuro and Ms. Iwane, who spoke to us about the emotional value that "spaces with flowers" bring. Hearing directly from experts, the students seemed to imagine the realities of wedding flower coordination and spatial design, and renewed their resolve for their presentations in July.

From now on, the students will challenge themselves to create their own indicators of sensibility, conduct research, and then draw a "map of sensibility" based on the data they obtain. This map of sensibility will not only allow them to visually understand how spaces with flowers are perceived, but also to objectively estimate what kind of values they are linked to.

Furthermore, participants will bring together the knowledge and experience they have gained in fields such as information science, Psychology, design, and sociology to explore and propose new values from their own perspectives. The experience of connecting what they have learned to solving real-world problems and developing future services and experiences will undoubtedly be invaluable for all of you who will continue to collaborate in various fields in the future.

The Innovation Mentor Program of the Faculty of Information Science, which is also incorporated into this project, aims to broaden students' perspectives and give them the courage to take on challenges through experiences collaborating with a variety of companies and experts, including Hibiya Kadan Co., Ltd., who kindly cooperated with us this time.
