On May 24th, we participated in the "SDGs Food Education Festa" hosted by Keihan Department Store, which is directly connected to Moriguchi-shi Station on the Keihan Main Line. As a university enthusiastic about food education activities, we participated again this year, and on the day, 12 volunteers from the 1st to 3rd years Faculty of Health and Nutrition conducted food education activities for visitors.

At Otemae University booth, we set up a "Food Education Game" corner and offered interactive games such as "Vegetable Flower Guessing," where participants tried to identify the flowers of vegetables, and "Let's Fish for Three Colored Food Groups," where participants tried to collect and fish for foods that make up the body in red, yellow, and green. Although we had mainly anticipated participation from children of preschool age and their families, people of a wide range of ages participated. The event was held from 10:00 to 16:30, and our university booth received a total of over 700 visitors, providing an opportunity for many people to deepen their interest in food.

This event has become a well-established food education event, with participation from food producers, food manufacturing and sales organizations, and government agencies involved in food production. The participating students also enjoyed themselves in their own way during breaks. Our Osaka Castle Campus is located near Tenmabashi Station on the Keihan Main Line, and we would like to continue to take advantage of this location to participate in future events.

The food education activities are conducted by volunteer students. They provide opportunities for interaction across different grade levels and for students to practically experience what they learn in class. Participating students gain various insights, and we hope that through these experiences, they will grow together with their peers who aspire to become registered dietitians.
