The food we eat every day contains a variety of nutrients that our bodies need.
In this "Basic Nutrition Experiment," we will learn how these nutrients are digested, absorbed, and used as energy in the body. Furthermore, through hands-on experiments, we will clearly learn how they are involved in maintaining health.
In this lesson, we focused on vitamin C, an essential nutrient for the body. After vitamin C is taken into the body, some of it is excreted. So, how much is actually excreted? To answer this question, we actually measured the amount of vitamin C excreted from the body.
After the experiment, students will summarize the results, analyze them based on scientific evidence, and report their findings to their instructor. Through this series of learning activities, students will develop the ability to think about "why things happen the way they do" and to explain things logically.
Students sometimes say, "Presenting our findings is nerve-wracking..." However, that's precisely why it's important to discuss things thoroughly in groups, share opinions, and organize the content together. The moment you discover something new while deepening your understanding with your peers is incredibly exciting. Even a little nervousness can be an important step towards your personal growth.
Faculty of Health and Nutrition offers a curriculum that allows students to acquire both the knowledge and practical skills necessary to become registered dietitians. We encourage you to experience the excitement of learning and the joy of discovery at our open campus.
