Moving Image / Animation major seminars (Imanishi Seminar and Wada Seminar) of the Faculty of Architecture & Arts Otemae University have worked on the planning and production of an introductory video for the latter half of the 5th Comprehensive Plan formulated by Ashiya City, based on a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the city. The video has been available on the Ashiya City website since June 12th (Friday).
The initial orientation was held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, where the Ashiya City Policy Promotion Division explained the latter half of the 5th Comprehensive Plan, the challenges facing Ashiya City, and the six policy areas ("Childcare and Education," "Welfare and Health," "Citizen Life," "Safety and Security," "Urban Infrastructure," and "Administrative Management"). The group then decided to work on video production based on these six policy areas.
The video is a combination of live-action and hand-drawn animation, presented in a TV news style with MC "Mike (illustrated on the right)," commentator "Ashiyan (illustrated on the left)," and characters associated with Ashiya City. The fun banter makes it easy to understand and communicates the policies to the citizens. Filming took place at locations within Ashiya City related to the policies, and the dialogue was developed with input from the Ashiya City Policy Promotion Division, while also being reviewed by Mayor Takashima of Ashiya City.
This initiative provided invaluable experience for students who aspire to work in the film industry in the future, allowing them to learn the process of creating a work while coordinating with the client (Ashiya City). Please take a look.
